Join the Vermont Pharmacists Association and Paradigm Medical Communications for a one hour virtual CE! James S. Lewis II, PharmD, FIDSA, will present "Don’t Forget About the Flu: Identifying, Treating, and Protecting High-Risk Patients", from 7-8 PM EST on November 17, 2021.

This evidence-based program will provide pharmacists with updates on best practices for identifying influenza and guiding the use of antiviral therapy, which is currently underused, even among high-risk patients who are susceptible to worse outcomes. The program will acquaint pharmacists with shifts in influenza diagnosis and care that have been prompted by the emergence of COVID-19, and the availability of a first-in-class oral antiviral agent, for which data, indications, and formulations continue to accumulate, warranting immediate practice changes in both treatment and prophylaxis.

    Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

    • Identify appropriate candidates for antiviral therapy based on risk for influenza-related complications, in accordance with current guideline recommendations
    • Differentially diagnose influenza based on clinical presentation and accurate interpretation of appropriate diagnostic tests when necessary
    • Recommend individualized antiviral treatment plans for patients with influenza based on current data and unique agent characteristics
    • Advise on influenza prophylaxis based on evidence and in accordance with guideline recommendations

This event is free for all Vermont and New Hampshire pharmacists and technicians. A Zoom link will be provided following registration.
